About the Event
The first event hosted by Mr. Wood took place to on January 16th. Ten SDVOSB and two large companies were delighted with the chance to meet one-on-one with Mr. Wood and each other. This event is the SECOND in the series to be hosted by Mr. James Wood, VA’s Associate Executive Director, Office of Facilities Acquisition, Office of Construction and Facilities Management in direct response to the Small Business community’s request to conduct networking dialogue with a senior leader from the Department’s Office of Acquisition, Logistics, and Construction Office (OALC). The event will allow 13 companies to participate in scheduled, 20-minute, one-on-one sessions with Mr. Wood. The participants will submit up to 3 questions or topics they wish to discuss, prior to the event. This will allow Mr. Wood and his staff time to conduct research in order to maximize the time and Return on Investment.
Only one representative per company will be permitted to attend this event.
There is no cost to attend.

James Wood is the Associate Executive Director, Office of Facilities Acquisition within the Office of
Construction and Facilities Management (CFM.) He received appointment to the position in December
2018 overseeing Major Construction, Architect and Engineering (A/E) contracting as well as
Procurement Policy. He serves as the principle advisor to the Executive Director, Office of Construction
and Facilities Management providing procurement policy oversight, Federal Acquisition Certification
(FAC-C) program management, and ensures creative, comprehensive, and effective facilities acquisition
processes and procedures nationwide. Mr. Wood oversees construction and A/E policy and procedure
development, contract negotiations, and serves as the Head of Contracting Activity (HCA) responsible
for approving all VA Major construction contracts. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Wood served
as the CFM Director of National Acquisition Support and Director of Construction and A/E Policy. He
also served as the Division Chief for Construction, Services, Medical Sharing, and Leasing for the
Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Network Contracting Office (NCO) 6 in Hampton VA.
Mr. Wood is a 20-year Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He has over 40 years of commercial and residential construction experience, 35 years of organizational management experience, and holds a Master of Arts from the University of Maryland in Management and Business, a Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Theology, and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Maryland. Mr. Wood is a highly experienced Level III Senior Contracting Officer with a VA Unlimited Warrant.
