About the Event
This is the first in a series of quarterly events Mr. James Wood, Acting Associate Executive Director, Office of Facilities Acquisition, Office of Construction and Facilities Management for the Department of Veterans Affairs made available in response to the Veteran-Owned Small Business and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business community’s request to have business networking dialogue with a senior leader in the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Acquisition, Logistics, and Constriction Office (OALC). This event will be hosted at the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization Business Engagement Center, located at 801 I Street NW, Washington, DC 20001.
This event consists of (13) 20-minute one-on-one sessions, during which Mr. Wood can answer OALC-related questions. Once registered for the event, please provide no more than three (3) questions which you intend to ask Mr. Wood. Providing your questions in advance enables research to be conducted (as applicable). Registrants must email their three (3) questions by Friday, January 11, 2019 to DirectAccess@va.gov. In the subject line of your email annotate the following: ”Questions for Mr. James Wood; 16 Jan BEC Event”. Space is limited; only 13 firms can register for this session.
The cost is free to attend. One representative per firm will be permitted to attend this event.

James J. Wood is the Acting Associate Executive Director, Office of Facilities Acquisition, in the Office of Construction & Facilities Management (CFM) at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He was appointed to the Acting position in June 2018 overseeing Major Construction, Architectural and Engineering (A/E) contracting as well as Procurement Policy. He serves as the principle advisor to CFM’s Executive Director, providing procurement policy oversight, Federal Acquisition Certification (FAC-C) program management, and ensures creative, comprehensive, and effective facilities acquisition processes and procedures nationwide. Mr. Wood oversees construction and A/E policy and procedure development, contract negotiations, and serves as the Head of Contracting Activity (HCA) responsible for approving all VA Major construction contracts. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Wood served as the CFM Director of National Acquisition Support and Director of Constructions and A/E Policy. He was also the Division Chief for Construction, Services, Medical Sharing, and Leasing for the Veterans Health Administration, Network Contracting Office 6 in Hampton, Virginia. Mr. Wood is a 20-year Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He has 37 years of commercial and residential construction experience, 35 years of organizational management experience, and holds a Master of Arts in Business and Management from the University of Maryland; a Master of Divinity in Theology from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary; and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Maryland. Mr. Wood is a highly experienced Senior Contracting Officer with a Level III Federal Acquisition Certification with an Unlimited Warrant.
